I am sorruy to be obluged to claim paiyment of the small balace due me for interest—you will obluge me biy forwarding an order on your agent at Richmond & believe me when I asre you that nothing but an extraordyary pressure at the present moment would induce me to make application

TJ’s agent at richmond was Bernard Peyton.
Eppes’s poor spelling here is indicative of failing health. He died on 15 Sept. 1823 “after a lingering and painful indisposition” (Richmond Enquirer, 19 Sept. 1823).
