Th: Jefferson with his respects to the President, incloses him a letter he received from Mr. Short yesterday, by which he expected to leave the Hague on the 12th. of December: also the answers he has prepared to the two petitions from Post Vincennes.

Washington approved the answers … to the two petitions from post vincennes and returned them to TJ this day (Washington, Journal description begins Dorothy Twohig, ed., The Journal of the Proceedings of the President, 1793–1797, Charlottesville, 1981 description ends , 62).
