Lieutenant William Eysandeau of the 5th Massachusetts regiment is appointed untill further orders to superintend the General Military Hospital.1

1John Singer Dexter, assistant to the adjutant general, kept an orderly book that continues “in the room of Lieutenant Desandier of Colo. Hazen’s Regiment appointed in after orders 21st Inst. by mistake” (DLC: Peter Force Collection; see also General Orders, 21 May, n.3).

William (Guillaume) Eysandeau, a native of France, became an ensign in the 15th Massachusetts Regiment in January 1777. Promoted to lieutenant in April 1779, Eysandeau transferred to the 5th Massachusetts Regiment in January 1781. He was “Sick at Fishkill” from January through April 1781 (DNA: RG 93, Compiled Service Records of Soldiers who Served in the American Army During the Revolutionary War). Eysandeau transferred to the 3d Massachusetts Regiment in June 1783 and served in the army until late fall of that year. He was transferred to the French branch of the Society of the Cincinnati in 1784.
