To Lieutenant General James Robertson

Head Quarters New Windsor 11th May 1781.

Sir

I, a few days ago1 recd the inclosed from Mr Morris of Philada with a request that they might be forwarded to you. I have taken the earliest opportunity of doing it.2 I have the honor to be Yr Excellency’s Most obt and humble Servt.

2Robertson replied to GW from New York on 18 May: “Permit me to offer you my thanks for the obliging & polite manner in which you have conveyed to me an Admiralty Commission, which has saved me the trouble and expence of applying for a new one” (LS, DLC:GW).
