General Orders
Head-Quarters Morristown sunday Feby 13th 1780.
Parole Revenue— C. Signs Reserve. Riches.
The Quarter Master General and Commissary of military stores will forthwith make a return of all the Espontoons in their possession and of the deliveries since the 1st of June last.

Adj. Gen. Alexander Scammell’s orderly book entry for this date includes the following additional general orders: “The Maryland Division will relieve the Morris Town Pickett tomorrow one o’Clock. The fatigue for the New Orderly room will be furnish’d by the same Division Tomorrow and next Day” (orderly book, 17 Oct. 1779–22 March 1780, DNA: RG 93, Orderly Books, 1775–1783, vol. 33).
On 23 Feb., GW’s aide-de-camp Alexander Hamilton wrote from headquarters to Maj. Gen. Nathanael Greene regarding espontoons: “Have you received any directions from The General concerning some espontoons to be brought from Fish Kill for the use of the officers here? If you have not be pleased to receive them now and give directions accordingly” (PPAmP: Nathanael Greene Papers).
