1This may be payment to GW for his 1750 survey of 292 acres of land for Jeremiah Wood in Frederick County. Wood was not granted the land until 19 June 1766, and £2.3 Virginia currency was GW’s usual fee for a survey of under 1,000 acres (Papers, Colonial Series description begins W. W. Abbot et al., eds. The Papers of George Washington, Colonial Series. 10 vols. Charlottesville, Va., 1983–95. description ends , 1:14, 16, 26). Thomas Bryan Martin was Lord Fairfax’s land agent.

2GW charges John Parke Custis’s account £3.15 “To John Cannon—Sadlers—Do [Account]” (Guardian Accounts, 11 April 1767).
