1. This was almost certainly Sgt. Henry Campbell, whom George Mercer ordered on 11 Dec. to conduct wagons up from Alexandria and who deserted at Winchester on 24 Dec. after being accused of stealing from the wagons. It is unlikely that he is Hugh Campbell, a sergeant in Capt. William Bronaugh’s company.
