my brothers: John Augustine Washington’s home, Bushfield. Joseph Lane (d. 1796), a younger brother of James and William Carr Lane of Newgate, lived at Nomini Forest in Westmoreland County and was the deputy collector of customs for the South Potomac Naval District (, 468–77; Va. Gaz., P&D, 25 Feb. 1773).
