In GW’s ledger entry for this date, he records purchasing horses from two men: David McCrae, two horses for £21 4s., and Samuel McChesney, two horses for £13 10s. (, folio 319). McChesney was a trader in Augusta County about this time (Va. Gaz., Pi, 9 Feb. 1775).
