Washington, Department of State, May 26th: 1807.

Sir,

Upon his arrival at L’Orient Captain Smith will put into your hands several letters and packets for our Ministers and others in France, which you will be so good as to forward by the earliest safe conveyance, taking care not to send the packets marked "Newspapers or Pamphlets" through the Post Office. I am Sir, &c.
