John Gavino to James Madison, 1 September 1803 (Abstract)

§ From John Gavino

1 September 1803, Gibraltar. No. 130. Encloses his dispatch no. 129 and a copy of a letter from Captain Bainbridge to Consul Simpson,1 which Gavino forwarded to Simpson “imediately by a Boat Charterd for the purpose.” Adds in a postscript: “I have a Letter dated yesterday from Consul Simpson of Tanger when he was still in the Dark regarding the orders of the Empr: Cruisers.”
