RC (DLC). Docketed by JM. Dated 1 Dec. 1799 in Index to the James Madison Papers.

1In the Richmond Va. Argus, 6 Apr. 1798, George Watson announced the opening of a stable, which also had “several good beds for the accomodation of his Friends.” On 12 Oct. 1798 in the same newspaper, Watson advertised that he kept an Oyster and Porter House “near the Bason of the Canal.” JM evidently lodged at Watson’s during the Virginia General Assembly session.
