1. As Beckley explained to Coxe: “I have forwarded to Virginia such a full view of our situation and the necessity of their Assembly acting decidedly on the great questions of a Standing Army, Alien & Sedition laws, assumption of common law, and a general ticket for Electors, that our friends have written me that every one of the measures is or will be adopted, besides a corresponding change in their law for summoning Juries, with the one contemplated in our Assembly. Mr. Madison has sent me a copy of his resolutions which I would have forwarded to you, but understand that a Copy has been sent you by another friend.”
