Frank Carr to Thomas Jefferson, [received 23 December 1817]
From Frank Carr
[received 23 Dec. 1817]
Frank Carr returns the letters of Messrs Pictet & Galatin. The perusal of them has given great pleasure to himself, & the other friends of Mr Terrell who have seen them. He has kept them thus long from a desire of diffusing that pleasure as much as possible; & hopes that the detention1 has been without inconvenience to Mr Jefferson, to whom he tenders friendly salutations & high respect.
RC (ViU: TJP-CC); undated; endorsed by TJ as received 23 Dec. Recorded in SJL as received 23 Dec. 1817. Enclosures: (1) Marc Auguste Pictet to TJ, 14 June 1817. (2) Albert Gallatin to TJ, 17 July 1817.
A missing letter from TJ to Carr of 29 Sept. 1817, which presumably forwarded the now returned correspondence, is recorded in SJL.
