I have recd. from on board the Schooner Citizen of George Town, Capt. Wm. Lawson, two boxes shipp’d by order of the President of the U.S., one address’d to Madame de Tessé & the other to Mr. R. R. Livingston Paris.

two boxes: on the conveyance of TJ’s shipment, see Vol. 41:674. For the plants and seeds TJ sent to madame de tessé and for the tea shipped for Madame de Corny under cover to Robert R. livingston, see Vol. 41:644-6, 668.

Vail’s letter to TJ of 10 Jan. 1804, recorded in SJL as received from Paris on 2 Aug. 1804, has not been found.
