Enclosure not identified, but it was probably one of the Virginia letters received on 3 May—the missing letter from Banister of 25 Dec. 1786, one of Randolph’s two letters of 28 Jan. 1787, or one of the letters from Francis and Elizabeth Wayles Eppes or Mary Jefferson (see under 22 and 23 May 1786).
