Though it cannot be proved, it is probable that the present letter is the one which TJ recorded in SJL without date as received 27 May 1787 at Bordeaux with letters from Francis Eppes, 30 Mch. 1787, and Elizabeth Wayles Eppes, 31 Mch. 1787.
