John Jay Papers

From John Jay to John Charlton, 22 April 1796

To John Charlton

[N. York 22 April. 1796.]

Dr. Sir

I take the liberty of enclosing a Plan of a Lazaretto shown by Dr. Bard with his Letters to me on the subject—1 Be so obliging as the lay them before the Medical Society, and request them to favor me without delay with their opinion and Plan of such a Building as they may judge the best calculated for the purpose; in case the one offered by Dr. Bard should be thought defective.— This is a subject which I do not understand, and therefore am solicitous to avail myself of the knowledge of those whose profession and information have naturally led them to Inquiries of this Kind— I am Dr Sir Your most Obt Servt.
