[Philadelphia, May 6, 1791. In a letter dated May 27, 1791, and addressed to “Thomas Forrest, John Nicholson and others, Public Creditors,” Hamilton wrote: “I have received your letter of the sixth instant.” Letter not found.]
1. Forrest was “a purchaser of certificates and paper money” (Clement Biddle, The Philadelphia Directory [Philadelphia, 1791], 42). Nicholson was comptroller general of Pennsylvania.
