George Washington to Chevalier de la Luzerne, 15 February 1780
George Washington to Chevalier de la Luzerne
Morristown [New Jersey] February 15, 1780. Regrets that the shortage of men makes it impossible to send detachment to guard William Duer’s tree-cutting expedition. Believes that a guard will not be necessary, but suggests applying to the local militia, if one is desired.
