1. Christie (also spelled Chrystie) was a captain of the Third Pennsylvania Regiment.
2. On June 4, Washington gave the following instructions to Christie: “To proceed immediately to West-Point. To inform the Garrison where we are.… To assure them that I am determined at the utmost hazard to support the fort and that I expect it will hold out to the last extremity.”
