6. Shinkle seems to have been a Philadelphia tailor or leatherworker who specialized in breeches and gloves for Negroes. Several similar bills of later dates survive.
7. Probably William Dunlap (see above, V, 199 n; VII, 158), postmaster at Philadelphia.
