To Tench Coxe
[Philadelphia] June 28, 1794. “The Secretary of the Treasury presents his Compliments to The Commissioner of the Revenue to request that he will get the within Commission filled and completed with the name of Henry Miller of York Town agreeably to an eventual arrangement made with the President for that purpose.”1

On June 30, 1794, Coxe wrote to Edmund Randolph: “Mr. Coxe has the honor to enclose to Mr. Randolph a blank Commission for the new Supervisor of Pennsylvania, left by the President in the hands of Mr. Hamilton to be filled with the name of Henry Miller of the Borough of York, in the event of his being willing to undertake the duties of that Appointment. General Miller has communicated his readiness to enter upon the service; and, as he is about to depart from Philadelphia, Mr. Coxe will be obliged by a completion of the Commission …” (AL, RG 59, Miscellaneous Letters, 1790–1799, National Archives).
