To James Madison from John B. Richeson, 30 November 1827
From John B. Richeson
University of Virginia, Nov. 30th, 1827.
Dear Sir,
I beg leave to enclose you the Proctor’s note to me of to-day; also Doctor Blaettermann’s, both of which permit me to request the favor of you to peruse.1
Having on the 16th instant, taken the liberty of addressing a letter to you upon the subject of renewing my lease the ensuing year, I deem it entirely unnecessary to add any thing more on this occasion, than to renew my solicitations to be retained as a Hotel-keeper. I have the honor to be, with the greatest respect and esteem, your obt. servt.
John B. Richeson.
RC and enclosure (ViU: Special Collections, John Hartwell Cocke Papers). Proctor’s note not found. Addressed by Richeson to “James Madison, Esquire, Rector of the University of Va.
