Matthew Fling, who was listed in George Mercer’s company on 2 Aug. 1756, was serving with the artificers working on the fort at Winchester under William Peachey’s direction. Fling underwent another court-martial later this same year. See GW’s Orders for 20 Sept. 1756. David McJennet (McGennett), an Irish sawyer who enlisted in October 1755, was in George Mercer’s company in August 1756 and in GW’s in August 1757, when he was described as having “a very dirty Lubbery look” (GW’s company size roll, 28 Aug. 1757, DLC:GW). Timothy Conner was scheduled for court-martial in May. See Orders, 5 May 1756.
