On 28 Jan. 1804 TJ accepted Peyton’s order in favor of David higginbotham for £47, amounting to $156.67 “paiable Apr. 15. This is on Peyton’s corn contract with Lilly.” TJ drew on Gibson & Jefferson on 17 Apr. 1804 to pay this debt. On 8 May of that year TJ drew on Gibson & Jefferson for 50 dollars “in favr. Craven Peyton on our corn contract for next winter.” On 23 Aug. 1804 he gave mrs key “an ord. on Gibson & Jefferson for £33–1–5½ = 110.25 in favr. Alexr. Garrett in part paiment of £60 for corn assumed to her for Craven Peyton and £14–11 purchased by Lilly on my own acct. viz. 48½ bush. @ 30/” ( , 2:1119, 1124, 1126, 1134–5).
