1. On April 4, 1792, the House of Representatives “Resolved, That the President of the United States, be requested to cause the proper officers to lay before this House such papers of a public nature, in the Executive Department, as may be necessary to the investigation of the causes of the failure of the late expedition under Major General St. Clair” ( , 561).
