My dear Sir

If the enclosed should get to your hands in time, it may serve to remove doubts, and for that purpose I give it a chance in the course of Post.1 I am always—& sincerely Your affectionate

ALS, NN: Gansevoort-Lansing Collection. GW addressed the letter to his nephew at “Haywood-Westmoreld Cty Virginia” and wrote on the cover: “Recomd to the care of the Post Master Fredericksbg.” The letter has a postmark of “MA 18.”

1GW probably referred to the letter he received from George Cabot, dated 9 May.
