Si cela était faites-moi l’honneur de me le mander afin que je vous l’adresse aussi-tôt qu’il Sera imprimé

You will find enclosed a notice regarding an American work about which you wrote me a long time ago and which, I believe, was never published. It might still meet your needs. If so, do me the honor of asking for it, so that I may send it to you as soon as it is printed

The enclosed notice (avis) may have concerned Joseph Coppinger’s recently published work, The American Practical Brewer and Tanner (New York, 1815), which Dufief had been attempting to obtain for TJ since 1813 (TJ to Dufief, [18] Sept. 1813; Dufief to TJ, 6 Apr. 1814; New York Evening Post, 22 Sept. 1815).
