Mr. Gibson may be James Gibson, merchant of Suffolk, Nansemond County, with whom GW had some dealings (LEDGER A description begins Manuscript Ledger Book 1, 1750-72, in George Washington Papers, Library of Congress. description ends , 281, 283), or John Gibson, who in 1780 was a Colchester merchant (George Mason to James Mercer, 5 Feb. 1780, MASON [2] description begins Robert A.
