23 January 1811, War Department. Transmits a return of the army with a letter from the adjutant and inspector general containing the information requested by the House of Representatives in the resolution of 21 Jan. 1811.1

1. On 21 Jan. 1811 William Helms of New Jersey presented a resolution requesting the president to lay before the House a return of the army “with the stations at which the garrisons are fixed, and the strength of each garrison; also the state of the recruiting service, and the progress that has been made therein since the last session” (, 11th Cong., 3d sess., 673). JM forwarded the information requested to the House in his message of 31 Jan. 1811.
