4 June 1809, New Orleans. Encloses a duplicate of an earlier letter to President Jefferson relating to a vacancy on the Orleans Territory Legislative Council owing to the death of Jean Baptiste Macarty. He fears the letter miscarried, since no replacement has been appointed.
