<Paris, March 13, 1777, in French: A person now in the provinces, about whom the duc de La Rochefoucauld can tell you,8 has asked me to make you some proposals that I think will please you. Kindly tell me when I can discuss them with you at Passy.>

8. Possibly the chevalier de Cambray, an engineer. La Rochefoucauld rarely supported a volunteer for service in America, but made an exception of Cambray; see BF to Washington below, Sept. 10, 1777.
