[New Windsor, New York, July 12, 1779. The newspaper description of this letter reads: “… a Revolutionary War letter from Washington, in Alexander Hamilton’s hand, sketching out military strategy in a planned attack on British-held Stony Point.”2 Letter not found.]

1. LS, in the handwriting of H, sold by Charles Hamilton Autographs, Inc., to Charles Sessler, Inc., Philadelphia (The New York Times, April 14, 19, 1968).

2. On the night of July 15–16, 1779, Brigadier General Anthony Wayne captured the British fort at Stony Point, on the west bank of the Hudson River in Orange County, New York.
