Octr 8th 1819 To visiting You in the night, and continued Medical Attendance from that date, till the morning of the 11th inclusive, with various prescriptions, medicines, &c— $30 00

MS (MHi); entirely in McAffee’s hand.

On 24 Oct. 1819 Alexander Garrett reported to John H. Cocke that “I heard from Mr Jefferson fryday last. he was still mending but kept his room fearfull of takeing cold this change of weather.” Garrett added that “his attack was not a billious cholic, but as Doctr. McAffee says who attended him it was the dry hard belly ake attended with a great portion of wind, when I see him I will offer your congratulations as requested” (RC in ViU: JHC).

TJ gave McAffee an order on Isaac Raphael for $30 on 25 Oct. 1820 (MB description begins James A. Bear Jr. and Lucia C.
