8 June 1805, Genoa. “I had the honor of presenting you my respects the 29th Ulto a Copy whereof I transmit today by way of Leghorn. This only serves to present you the Discourse of the Deputation on the Union of this State to France and the French Emperor’s answer.”1

1. The enclosure (2 pp.; in French and Italian) is a printed copy of the 4 June 1805 speeches exchanged by the doge of Genoa and Napoleon, discussing the annexation of the Ligurian Republic to France.
