[Philadelphia, July 4, 1792. On September 9, 1792, Lutterloh wrote to Hamilton: “Your favor of the 4th July … I had the honour to receive.” Letter not found.]

1. Lutterloh came to America from Germany during the American Revolution and served as a deputy quartermaster general of the Continental Army with the rank of colonel. He subsequently settled in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
