TJ used this account to calculate that a payment of $131.50 to Hooe would cover his obligations “in full to Jan. 1. 12.,” including interest to the end of March 1812, and he accordingly arranged for such a payment to be made (MB description begins James A. Stanton, eds., Jefferson’s Memorandum Books: Accounts, with Legal Records and Miscellany, 1767–1826, 1997, The Papers of Thomas Jefferson, Second Series description ends , 2:1274; TJ to Patrick Gibson and to Hooe, both 15 Mar. 1812).
