From John Daves

New Bern [North Carolina] April 29, 1794. “I have received your letter dated 3rd Instant, containing instructions.…1 As yet I have not been able to get a judicious able man, to undertake owing to the small sum they will be entitled to.… I have received from the Treasurer of the United States a draft on me for One thousand dollars, which shall be disposed of agreeable to your instructions.”
