In my Sons absence your Letter came to my hands, to comply with which I have sent you a copy of John Story’s will & a Deed from Charles Story to the late Speaker wch are all, in this office, that relate to the Land that you have purchased of Mr Black.
It may perhaps give you some satisfaction to look into the Secretaries office for a Deed which was made by one [ ] Story to the Speaker about 20 years ago for some Land wch he claim’d under the Will of old Story.1
I thought it not amiss to give yo. this Intimation & am with respect Sir Yor most humble Servant

Col. Richard Tunstall (d. 1775) of Orange Grove for many years was clerk of the King and Queen County court. At some time before his death he relinquished his office to his eldest son, John (1733–c.1795), who was probably clerk at this time.
1. Tunstall is referring to John Robinson’s Pleasant Hill plantation which GW was buying from William Black. See GW to Robert Cary & Co., 10 Nov., nn.3, 4, and 6. The deed from Charles Story to John Robinson was dated 12 April 1750.
