From Barbier Demarais

Boston, 7 May 1791. He encloses a letter sent to him by Mlle. de Bruny from Guadeloupe for Mlle. Jefferson. He would have been pleased to present it to her in accordance with his promise, but public and private affairs cause him to return to Guadeloupe immediately. He plans to return soon to “votre bonne et agréable patrie” and to bring fresh news to Mlle. Jefferson from her friend.

RC (ViW); endorsed by TJ as received 17 May 1791 and so recorded in SJL. The enclosed letter from Mlle. de Bruny, a friend and schoolmate of Martha Jefferson at the Abbaye Royale de Pentemont, has not been found.
