Bradford & Inskeep was a publishing partnership established by 1808 in Philadelphia by Samuel Fisher Bradford (1776–1837) and John Inskeep (1786–1820). Before it failed in 1815, the firm published a variety of works, including the Port Folio, a literary magazine; Alexander Wilson’s American Ornithology; or, the Natural History of the Birds of the United States, 9 vols. (Philadelphia, 1808–14; Sowerby, description begins E. Millicent Sowerby, comp., Catalogue of the Library of Thomas Jefferson, 1952–59, 5 vols. description ends no. 1022); and Biddle, Lewis and Clark Expedition. Bradford belonged to a prominent Philadelphia family of printers. He was in business in 1798–99 with his father, Thomas Bradford, before establishing his own firm. After his partnership with Inskeep ended, Bradford continued printing until at least 1833. Inskeep, Bradford’s brother-in-law and the namesake son of a two-time mayor of Philadelphia, later entered the ministry and died in New Orleans (Henry Darrach, Bradford Family 1660–1906 [1906], 2, 7, 12; Henry Edward Wallace Jr., “Sketch of John Inskeep, Mayor, and President of the Insurance Company of North America, Philadelphia,” PMHB description begins Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography, 1877–  description ends 28 [1904]: 131, 133, 135; baptismal record of Inskeep at Christ Church, Philadelphia, 21 Sept. 1792; Brigham, American Newspapers description begins Clarence S.
