Springfield April 30th 1780

May it Please your Excellency,

as Lieut. Jasper Mead of the 5th Connecticut Regiment hath Requested of me a Recommendation for your Excellency Leave to Resign his Commission and Leave the Service.

Dear Sir as it is his own Request and he being Present to offer his own Reasons to your Excellency for his Leaving the Service—he haveing Servd in the office of Lieut. & Qr Mstr in the Regt With Reputation—It is his own Request that induces me to Recommend him for a discharge—I therefore Recommend Lieut. Jasr Mead to your Excellency for a discharge from the army of the United States.
