May It please your Excellency

being solicited by Lieut. Heacock for a Recommendation to your Excellency for his Resignation from the Army—it is with the greatest reluctance that I Comply with such a request from so worthy an officer and one who ever hath done honour to the profession of a soldier yet his motives for so doing appear to be founded in reason and Justis and the present reduced State of the Regiment by the freaquent Dishcarges hath at length induced me to comply with his request. I am with the gratest Respect your Excellencys most Obedient Humble Servant
