From Alexander Hamilton

[Philadelphia] 2d May 179[4].1

The Secretary of the Treasury has the honor of enclosing herewith the draft of a passport for the President’s signature—intended for the brigantine Lily, now at Baltimore.2 The case was here before the Secretary’s letter of yesterday was sent to the President, and was overlooked.

2. The enclosure has not been identified, but GW signed a passport for the Lily on this date (JPP description begins Dorothy Twohig, ed. The Journal of the Proceedings of the President, 1793–1797. Charlottesville, Va., 1981. description ends , 301).
