David Griffith (1742–1789) was rector of Christ Church, Alexandria, from 1780 until his death. After a brief medical career in his native New York, Griffith studied for the ministry and was ordained by the bishop of London in 1770. In 1785 he was appointed first Episcopal bishop of Virginia.
1. Griffith had at least two sons, David Griffith, Jr., and Richard Griffith.
