Adj. Gen. Alexander Scammell’s orderly book entry for this date includes the following additional general orders: “A subaltern, two serjeants, two Corporals, One Drum & One Fife and Twenty four Privates of the Pennsylvania Line to parade at the Provost Guard in Morris Town Tomorrow morning to Convoy Prisoners of War to Eastown.
“A Corporal and four Men from the first Maryd Brigade to be sent to the Quarter Master Genls as a Guard to the Clothiers Store of that Departmen⟨t.⟩ Two Butchers, one from Lord stirlings Division and one from the MaryLand Division to be sent to Commissary [John] Kaims [Kean] this Day.
“Major Hamilton is appointed a Member of the General Court Martial whereof Coll Humpton is President in place of Major Byles on Furlough” (orderly book, 17 Oct. 1779–22 March 1780, DNA: RG 93, Orderly Books, 1775–1783, vol. 33).
GW’s expenses for this date included £11.5 “To 2 mustard pots,” £22.10 “To 2 vinegar cruits,” £30 “To 1 pair shoes bought for Mrs [Elizabeth] Tomson,” and £7.10 “To cash pd for mendg the Genls boots at Phila” (household account book, 11 April 1776–21 Nov. 1780, DLC:GW, ser. 5).
