GW expenses for this date included £20 “To cash pd Henry Dawkins for engraving Silver Cups as ⅌ receipt” (Revolutionary War Household Expenses, 1776-1780, DLC:GW, Ser. 5). The receipt, signed by Dawkins and dated this date, specified that he had engraved for GW twenty-four “small wine Cups,” two “large tumblers,” two “Middlesize breakfast [tumblers],” one “pepper box,” and “the office seal with His Excellency’s Arms” (DLC:GW).
