Letter not found: from Henry Van Vleck, 26 July 1779. GW wrote Van Vleck on 3 Aug.: “I received Your Letter of the 26th of July. The Officers you mention do not belong to the Continental Army—and if they have done you wrong, your application for redress must be to their State” (DLC:GW).
