Boston, 1 April 1776. Inform that they “are Willing That Majr Frazier Should Be appointed Majr in Collo. whitcombs Regt.”
DS, DLC:GW. This memorial is signed by seventeen officers in Col. Asa Whitcomb’s 6th Continental Regiment. In DLC:GW also there is an undated “List of the Officers that are Desirous of having Maj. Frazier in the Regt.” It includes the names of thirteen officers who signed the memorial of this date and three who did not. John Grizzage Frazer, who served as an assistant quartermaster general during the siege of Boston, was appointed major of the 6th Continental Regiment sometime during the next two weeks and assumed his new duties a short time later (Frazer to Hancock, 14 April 1776, DNA:PCC, item 78).
